We love to travel, especially when it involves a sunny destination!
While many of our events have us hitting the road come summer, last spring we were fortunate to have the opportunity to hop on a plane and head south to meet our clients and scout out a few gorgeous destinations in Sayulita and Punta Mita, Mexico. Guided by a Andrea of Sayulita Dream Weddings we were toured through rental shops, fabric stores and local gems to create a dream wedding for Whitney and Graeme.
Now that Whitney and Graeme have officially tied the knot (stay tuned for photos by Taryn Baxter of their gorgeous day!), we’re sharing a few favourite shops, hotels and venues from our trip with you!
We began our trip in Sayulita, a bohemian surf town and small fishing village full of cobblestone streets and surf shops and built on the side of a hill. A taste of small town Mexico, with a safe and vibrant atmosphere; here you can walk the beach, dine on the street, shop and surf. We found the best info about the town on Sayulita Life.
Where to stay? If your looking to rest your head in the heart of it all, we highly recommend The Petite Hotel Hafa. Located in the centre of town, this budget friendly hotel was a perfect place to start our trip. The fun design, clean rooms and roof top patio were all we needed to get settled into Sayulita culture. Nothing fancy here, but a perfect place to get up and go from!
Next time we visit Sayulita with friends, we’ll opt to rent a house and enjoy a little extra luxury (private pool and chef, yes please). There are also plenty of condos. We like the look of Los Almendros, which our bride recommended and had previously stayed at.
Our major destination of the trip was the Tetitiare Estates. This was the gorgeous venue Whitney and Graeme were planning their wedding at, and now that they are hitched we thought it time to let you in on this gem of a venue! A ceremony on the grass among the palm trees and reception on a private beach. Our words can’t do it justice so you best head on over and take a look for yourself.
Another venue and honeymoon local we visited was Imanta. As our other clients had just returned from their honeymoon here, we were eager to take a tour for ourselves of the incredible (and very private) property. With plunge pools at each private house and the most amazing roof top, this is surely one of the most naturally romantic places to honeymoon, or to host a wedding and certainly makes our love list of destination venues.
For the final few days of our trip, we stayed at the boutique hotel Casa de Mita. A beautiful and private all inclusive hotel set between Sayulita and Punta Mita on a mostly secluded beach. Unlike your typical “all inclusive” experience, our experience was five star service and gourmet everything, all the time. After a few days of lounging, I’d dream up a number of event options for this sweet property. If you’re looking to host an intimate wedding in Mexico, this would be a gorgeous hotel to book up with your closest family and friends!
