Real Wedding: Julia and Jonathan

Words really can’t do this wedding justice, but thankfully Shari and Mike captured the story!

I first met with Julia and Jonathan 10 months before their wedding day and knew from that first meeting we were planning something special! Together we explored possible venues throughout Vancouver and decided on a combination of The Polygon and The Pipe Shop Venue in North Vancouver to accommodate their guest list (240) and vision for the day. With refined taste in food, wine and fashion, we knew guests were in for a treat! We kept the aesthetic light and modern, with sculptural feature florals from Celsia Floral, sleek glassware and chairs from Pedersen’s Rentals, and rust hued velvet settee’s and accent pieces from The Collection Rentals.

Julia and Jonathan began the day greeting their guests with welcome cocktails at The Polygon, followed by a ceremony with the city and sparkling ocean in the backdrop. Guests then followed Julia and Jonathan across the plaza to The Pipe Shop Venue where we were set for a feast! Savoury City Catering served a family style menu which included the best latkes our groom had ever tasted. Not the most traditional wedding menu, and we loved them for it! After heartfelt and hilarious speeches, it was time for the Hora! Side One kicked off the dancing and Julia our bride slipped into something a little more sparkly. When it was time for the party to end at The Pipe Shop, but no one wanted it to, we lured guests back to The Polygon for city views, Jukes fried chicken sandwiches and a DJ spinning into the early morning.

Thank you to the incredible vendor team that made Julia and Jonathan’s wedding day possible!

Beach Elopement in Finikounda, Greece

Last September we had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Finikounda, Greece, to create this serene beach elopement for the Boheme Workshops.

Imagine escaping the crowded city to elope on the beach of a small village on the beautiful coast of Greece. We envisioned an intimate ceremony and beach reception for a couple and their two closest friends and set out to bring this life in the quaint town of Finikounda. The private setting, far from the city, set the stage for a unique Greek experience; no car or city lights, just the sound of waves crashing, the setting sun, and a barefoot ceremony as the couple said their vows.

See the full story as beautifully captured by workshop attendee Jeanni Dunagan below.

Taking cues from the breathtaking setting, we incorporated sand, stone, rust, taupe, cream, and natural wood elements. We chose the brides Bo and Luca gown from Rituals of Love Bridal, and accented it with delicate Leah Alexandra jewelry from The Cross Decor and Design.

Our Creative Direction and Designer Elizabeth designed this modern wedding stationery suite with vellum, textured papers and a lovely type balance.

Thank you to entire Boheme Team for creating this beautiful day with us! See more as featured on 100 Layer Cake.

Modern Whistler Wedding at the Audain Art Museum

The first time I visited the Audain Art Museum in Whistler it took my breath away. A refreshingly modern space in a mountain town, with windows that frame snow dusted trees and invite the light to dance. It’s an ideal venue for a couple looking to host a Whistler wedding, but who favour a more modern and minimal aesthetic to a traditional lodge style environment.

Featured below is an elopement we and planned and designed in collaboration with The Four Season’s Whistler and the Audain Art Museum which was recently published on Green Wedding Shoes. Captured by Rebecca and Lindsey, it was an ideal December day with freshly dusted trees and sunshine. See the full story of Andrea and Andrew’s elopement in Whistler captured below.

The Audain Art Museum was designed by John and Patricia Patkau, David Shone and their firm Patkau Architects of Vancouver, B.C. The museum is nested in a grove of Engelmann and Sitka Spruce hybrids and was designed to integrate into its surroundings. We previously share ideas for hosting a wedding at the Audain Art Museum here.
