Union Bridal Pop Up Shop

Attention brides-to-be: we are excited to welcome Union Bridal, a brand new West Coast bridal boutique, to Vancouver, and to spread the news that the boutique will host a pop up shop this March 26th – March 29th 2015!

We swoon for stylish, off the beaten path dresses, and believe that every detail of your wedding, from your venue to your decor and dress, can reflect your personal style and what you love. If you’re a West Coast, fashion forward and free-spirited bride-to-be, we expect that you might just find your dream dress at Union Bridal and we can’t wait to see the collections and how they dress you up in love!

Rebecca Schoneveld

Catching up with Sarah Frood, Owner and Founder of Union Bridal, we learned a little more about Union Bridal, who the new boutique will appeal to, and the quality and styles we can expect to see. According to Sarah, “Our brides are free-spirited, effortless, modern, boho and sophisticated, and are not afraid to push the boundaries of tradition on their big day.”

Rebecca Schoneveld

For the pop up shop this March, designers confirmed to be available are Canadian brand ‘& For Love’, ‘Daughters of Simone’ from New York and Brookyln based ‘Rebecca Schoneveld’. Brides are invited to enjoy 10% off custom made-to-order gowns from these exclusive designers.

Union Bridal’s pop up will be held at ‘This Open Space’ at 434 Columbia Street in Vancouver’s Chinatown district.  Doors will be open from 11am-7pm on March 26th and 27th, and from 10am-6pm on March 28th and 29th.

We’ll most certainly be stopping by to browse the collections and get inspired. We can’t wait to see what Union Bridal brings to Vancouver for our stylish brides!

Palm Springs Wedding Venues

Palm Springs, once the Hollywood getaway to ’60s movers and shakers, has re-established itself as a hot destination for the laid-back cool.  A short (direct) flight from Vancouver B.C., could have you at the office in the morning and landing in the desert just in time for happy hour. A perfect place for a weekend destination wedding with all your friends!

Below we’ve rounded up our top five favourite Palm Springs Wedding venues, discovered on our scouting trip in preparation for Julia and Mark’s Palm Springs wedding last spring. For more ideas and help planning your Palm Springs wedding get in touch, we love to travel!

Palms Springs Wedding Venue, Korakia Pensione

For the sophisticated bohemian bride we love the Korakia Pensione. Shake your tambourine and set the table with moroccan glass, this venue is what desert dreams are made of. An architectural treasure far away from the “flash”, unlike anything else in Palm Springs, Korakia offers a Moroccan-Mediterranean inspired intimate and dramatic setting for a destination wedding. With an outdoor space to fit 130 of your closest friends and family. You can celebrate amidst candle lit walkways, Moroccan daybeds, flickering fire-pits, illuminated pools, jasmine scented air, and views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

The Parker Palm Springs, Wedding Venue

The Parker Palm Springs. Preppy with an edge, with interior design by Jonathan Adler, you can have it all here. Walking the 13 acre property we discovered a number of gorgeous gardens and spaces to host your ceremony and reception. Offering the amenities of a big resort (gorgeous spa, great breakfast spot and multiple pools) with the charm and style of a boutique hotel (144 rooms), it’s a great place for you and your guests (of all ages) to call home for your wedding weekend. There are so many possibilities and spaces for throwing an epic celebration here, from your welcome reception on the croquet lawn  to the wedding night dance party in the marble floored pavilion. Bonus points for the all day amazing breakfasts served at Norma’s!

The Sparrows Lodge, Wedding Venue

For the casual couple looking to host a laid back family and friends weekend, The Sparrows Lodge offers a rustic-chic, summer camp inspired, 20 room property in South Palm Springs. A completely restored 1950s retreat, weddings at Sparrows require a buyout of the property for the weekend, making the property your own for your friends and family (aged 21 and over).

The Ace Hotel Palm Springs, Wedding Venue

If party-time Palm Springs is more your style, The Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs could be for you. Well known for its hipster poolside party environment, Commune event space and now a brand new Club house double decker event space. The Ace is a 176 room revamped motel turned mid-century modern resort for the young at heart. Invite your friends, they can bring their kids, and everyone can celebrate for days here.

For quintessential Palm Springs and boutique luxury, The Viceroy, designed by Kelly Wearstler, offers a Hollywood Regency feeling with a twist. Three pools, a spa, guest villas, outdoor gardens and an intimate pavilion ballroom. See Julia and Mark’s gorgeous and fun wedding we planned and designed here last spring.

Finally, a round of up Palm Springs venues wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the amazing mid century vacation homes for rent, such as the Frederick Loewe Estate.

Sayulita, Mexico: Will Travel for Love, Style and Sunshine

We love to travel, especially when it involves a sunny destination!

While many of our events have us hitting the road come summer, last spring we were fortunate to have the opportunity to hop on a plane and head south to meet our clients and scout out a few gorgeous destinations in Sayulita and Punta Mita, Mexico. Guided by a Andrea of Sayulita Dream Weddings we were toured through rental shops, fabric stores and local gems to create a dream wedding for Whitney and Graeme.

Now that Whitney and Graeme have officially tied the knot (stay tuned for photos by Taryn Baxter of their gorgeous day!), we’re sharing a few favourite shops, hotels and venues from our trip with you!

We began our trip in Sayulita, a bohemian surf town and small fishing village full of cobblestone streets and surf shops and built on the side of a hill. A taste of small town Mexico, with a safe and vibrant atmosphere; here you can walk the  beach, dine on the street, shop and surf.  We found the best info about the town on Sayulita Life.

Where to stay? If your looking to rest your head in the heart of it all, we highly recommend The Petite Hotel Hafa. Located in the centre of town, this budget friendly hotel was a perfect place to start our trip. The fun design, clean rooms and roof top patio were all we needed to get settled into Sayulita culture. Nothing fancy here, but a perfect place to get up and go from!

Next time we visit Sayulita with friends, we’ll opt to rent a house and enjoy a little extra luxury (private pool and chef, yes please). There are also plenty of condos. We like the look of Los Almendros, which our bride recommended and had previously stayed at.

The shops to spend your pesos include Pachamama, Evoke the Spirit, Revolucion del Sueno and a plethora of market shops filled with colourful blankets and souvenirs.

Our major destination of the trip was the Tetitiare Estates. This was the gorgeous venue Whitney and Graeme were planning their wedding at, and now that they are hitched we thought it time to let you in on this gem of a venue! A ceremony on the grass among the palm trees and reception on a private beach. Our words can’t do it justice so you best head on over and take a look for yourself.

Another venue and honeymoon local we visited was Imanta. As our other clients had just returned from their honeymoon here, we were eager to take a tour for ourselves of the incredible (and very private) property. With plunge pools at each private house and the most amazing roof top, this is surely one of the  most naturally romantic places to honeymoon, or to host a wedding and certainly makes our love list of destination venues.

For the final few days of our trip, we stayed at the boutique hotel Casa de Mita. A beautiful and private all inclusive hotel set between Sayulita and Punta Mita on a mostly secluded beach. Unlike your typical “all inclusive” experience, our experience was five star service and gourmet everything, all the time. After a few days of lounging, I’d dream up a number of event options for this sweet property. If you’re looking to host an intimate wedding in Mexico, this would be a gorgeous hotel to book up with your closest family and friends!
