With the summer wedding and event season kicking off, and just in time for the long weekend, we’re bringing you a few favorites from Oliver and Lilly’s in South Granville. This locally owned shoppe has long been a go-to of ours for stylish unique dresses. Ever wonder what goes into those crazy beautiful botanical floral arrangements you love? How they are designed to look as if they grew in the garden that way – beautiful and lush? I did and so I’ve been spending time at Celsia Florist learning and creating.

Last week we designed this botanical arrangement, filled with favourites like peonies, ranunculus, matricaria chamomilla and roses all set in a pedestal bowl. It’s perfect for Mother’s Day brunch and you can see the recipe below! Mother’s Day Brunch

I love brunch. The time between breakfast and lunch where you can serve up something sweet like lemon blueberry pankcakes and decorate the table. Brunch doesn’t need to be fancy, but a few simple details can make it special.

With Mother’s Day around the corner, we teamed up with Celsia Florist and Gucio Photography and set the table at our studio for a simple and elegant brunch, complete with a garden inspired floral arrangement and a little something for mom.

Growing up our Mother’s Day traditions included an early breakfast in bed adorn with fresh cut flowers from the garden. The older I get, the more I appreciate my Mom. I hope you feel that way about yours too and that this inspires you to plan something special.

Spring Flowers

If you follow along with us on instagram you may have noticed an abundance of florals. I’ve been spending time in the shop with the team at Celsia Florist recently, playing with flowers and learning new things. Spring has been good to us and we’ve had an abundance of poppies, peonies, tulips and ranunculus to design with. Flower heaven for me!

Last Friday Christie stopped by for a visit and captured a picture of this brightly hued and fun arrangement we made. It’s wild, bright and beautifully fragrant. I love Spring!

Wedding Inspiration: Spring Sailing

Planning a wedding in early spring can be risky business in Vancouver, but with high risk may also come high reward. For Nadia and Gavin’s wedding day that meant sunshine and warm weather on a Easter weekend, combine with the most beautiful spring flowers you could imagine. How’s that for our first wedding of 2013?!

We can’t wait to share the details from their day with you soon, but until then here’s look at the inspiration board we designed for their day. A subtle nod to their love story (he was the captain and she was crew when they locked eyes on the Caribbean sea), with classic navy, pops of bright colours and cohesive design elements fitting for one of our favourite city venues, Brix.

When we were little my sister Sarah was in a “beautiful British Columbia” commercial. I think it was the beginning of our love affair with B.C.’s majestic views. Today we’re thrilled that Style Me Pretty has featured Sarah and Dan’s wedding held at North Arm Farm in Pemberton last July. If the world didn’t already realize just how beautiful B.C. is, those that come across this blog post will certainly understand. Thank you to Rebecca Amber Photography for capturing the day so beautifully.

Inspired by the Outstanding in the Field long table dining series, Sarah and Dan’s wedding was a magical and intimate evening filled with great friends and family, spectacular views, amazing farm to table cuisine by Araxi and one heck of a dance party! Held in the Pemberton Valley at North Arm Farm with Mt Currie as their backdrop, it was the ultimate guest experience and memory we were so honoured to be a part of helping them create. Spring Floral Patterns

How did we miss blogging about the first day of spring? We were up to our ears in gorgeous flowers at the Flowerwild Workshop in Palm Springs , that’s how! We have so much more to share on that later, but for now enjoy our spring floral inspiration below.

Growing up mom always filled the entryway of our home with fresh clippings of forsythia from our backyard – a true sign that spring was here. This spring floral patterns are everywhere and we love the idea of incorporating them into an event style. Line the envelopes of your wedding invitation with a floral pattern, dress a feature table in a floral table linen or go to town on the gorgeous flowers themselves.

Inspired by Marche St George

Lately I can’t get the colour chartreuse off my mind. Mix in a recent lunch date at the charming Marche St George in Vancouver and the below inspiration was born. With a European flair, we imagine creating this style of a celebration in B.C. set in a winery, private estate or heritage building and grounds (though Europe would also do, did we mention we travel?). A sophisticated, stylish and textured event where guests sip prosecco served on pewter trays and dine by candle light seated at harvest tables adorn with garlands of floral and olive branches. Enjoy!

Hush at the Terminal City Club

We’re looking forward to attending next Saturday’s cocktail party: Hush… Vancouver’s Best Kept Wedding Secret at the Terminal City Club in Vancouver. Defined by classic detailing and old world glamour, we’re excited to get dressed up and enjoy a glass of bubbles in this classic club. We’ve often thought wedding shows could use a dose more fun – so if you’re looking for some inspiration and a fun evening out, kick up your heels and join us. Note, if your future Mr. goes missing, you may find him in men’s lounge tasting whiskey (great idea). Leave us a note if you’ll be attending!

Raise your hands if you love sunshine and summer soirees! We were thrilled to see Amber and Darryl’s Rockwater Secret Cove Resort wedding on the Sunshine Coast featured on Style Me Pretty Canada today.

Spread Love Events provided full wedding planning and styling for Amber and Darryl’s Sunshine Coast wedding weekend. From a movie night under an ocean-side marquee to welcome guests on Friday evening, to a poolside cocktail reception and dance party that lasted into the early morning following the wedding day, it was a weekend of celebration, love and family.
