Aug03 Frosting 2011

Frost yourself. You don’t have to be a bride to do so, but being one does make a marvelous excuse to indulge in pretty jewlery for your big day.

When selecting your wedding day jewelry, you’ll want to consider the neckline of your dress and how you’ll wear your hair.  Next, select a piece of statement jewelry and work from there. Rather than layering it on (though we do love a layered necklace), we suggest brides follow the great advice of Coco Channel and “take one item off before you leave”. Balance a beautiful Ban.do crystal headband with classic studs and a vintage crystal bracelet or sparkle in old hollywood earrings from Elsa Corsi and keep the neck bare.

From locally designed and luxurious keepsake jewelry to costume styles by JCrew, below are a few of our favorite adornments.

Jewelry featured above all by JCrew.

1. Lanvin, Multi-strand glass pearl necklace 2.Valentino, Swarovski crystal pearl bib neacklace 3. Earring by Elsa Corsi 4. Necklace by Elsa Corsi

Above is just a glimpse of the beautiful jewlery Vancouverite Elsa Corsi designs.  For vintage and old hollywood jewelry styles, other great places to look include your mother and grandmothers collection and even vintage shops and thrift stores.  For our own weddings we started our jewelry shopping in our mother’s drawer.  Sarah had a pearl necklace made into a triple strand pearl bracelet and I wore my great grandmothers cocktail ring.

Hair accessories featured above all by Ban.do

While not big fans of traditional tiaras here (though Princess Kate did look gorgeous) we love the above featured hair accessories by Ban.do.

When it comes to accessorizing the options are endless, check back often as we share more on wedding fashion and consult our favourite experts.
