Jun29 Real Party: “It’s a girl” baby shower 2011

Ruffles, ribbon, and wagons are some of our favourite things. We had so much fun creating the details for this whimsical “it’s a girl” baby shower. We chose the feminine colour palette of rose pink and lavender to compliment the vintage details and character home in which this shower was hosted. Thankfully, the sun came out and guests enjoyed the beautiful backyard, which also served as a great backdrop for our decor. The gorgeous pictures are from the talented Bee of Bee Chalmers Photography.

With all our parties, we try to incorporate props which can be used again by the recipient. I think we had the most fun crafting the ribbon garland by hand, which would look so cute strung in the baby’s nursery.

Some of our favourite details were the pink ruffled cake by Butter Bakery and the vintage wagon rented from Blue Owl home boutique. We decided to stay away from the traditional baby shower games like guessing the size of the mom’s baby bump, and opted for a good conversation starter instead. Each guest brought a baby picture and everyone tried to match the baby picture to the grown up guest. The prize: a night babysitting for the parents-to-be!

    Hello honey,
Another idea for you. Buy a whole stack of singlets (we used Bonds) in different sizes and colours, and get paint, stamps etc and then everyone paints one. Hang them up on pegs to dry – creates such cute photos. Plus the little one gets to wear them for the next year.

This shower is adorable! I absolutely love the ribbon streamer idea, especially to reuse in the nursery. And of course, vintage touches are divine!
